The Millers began their pre-season schedule with a narrow victory at North West Counties League Premier Division side West Didsbury & Chorlton, a scintillating first half display resulting in a three goal cushion that proved enough to win the game in spite of a much improved second half from the hosts.
The Millers were two up inside five minutes, and could have led earlier after a bright opening, Trialist jinking into the area and slotting past the keeper. The lead was doubled five minutes later, another excellent move capped off by a fine finish, before an own goal just after the half hour gave the scoreline a comprehensive look at the interval.
The home side made several changes at half-time and were to enjoy the better of the second half, pulling a goal back through Jordan Lazenbury, before he doubled his tally curling in a free-kick from outside the area. The award of the free-kick saw The Millers reduced to ten men for denying a goal scoring opportunity, and with the numerical advantage West Didsbury & Chorlton laid siege to the visitors goal. A spirited rear guard effort saw The Millers hold out and record the win.
