On 27 December 2003 The Millers entertained Leigh Athletic in the Manchester League Premier Division. A large crowd saw the visitors return home with three points following a comfortable 5-2 win. The Millers goals were scored by Chris Pickering and Adam Blackburn.
Tony Rigby had taken over from Alan Peatfield as Manager in the summer of 2003 and his side enjoyed mixed form throughout the season as he rebuilt the squad ahead of the step up to the North West Counties League the following year.
