The Millers made a winning start to 2024/25 with a fine 3-1 win away win at Runcorn Town, a double by Harry Dean, added to Ant Hall’s opener, enough to secure three points ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Alsager Town.
James Perry came in for his debut at centre back alongside Jake Walker, with skipper Darius Photiou and Malachi Babayale filling the full back slots. Callum Preece was only fit enough to take a place among the substitutes, which meant Jack Lever moved into midfield alongside Danny Warburton and another debutant in Josh Abbott. Dean and Hall took the wide positions with recent signing Lee Knight leading the line. There was quality in abundance on the bench too, with Sam Deering, George Mrozek, Chad Whyte and Declan Hacking taking a spot alongside Preece.
The Millers made the perfect start to the campaign, Hall firing his side in front after just three minutes, and the dominant visitors doubled their lead on 20 minutes as Harry Dean slotted past former Millers keeper Joe Lawton. The home side pulled one back just before the interval but it was The Millers who looked the more likely, and it came as no surprise when Dean secured the points with his second of the afternoon with ten minutes to go.
