A strong first half display by visitors Sandbach United saw them leave Church Lane with all three points, in spite of the home side missing several opportunities to take the lead, a quick succession of goals by Ben Greenop, Kieran O'Connell, and Joe Bevan gave Sandbach a cushion at half-time and The Millers were unable to recover.
The Millers showed resilience in the second half, even though they were reduced to ten men following the dismissal of debutant Tyler Williams, and they dominated the seconnd half. Ben McNamara's first goal for the club in the 57th minute, smashing in from 30 yards was one of the strikes of the season so far, but was all The Millers managed to get out of the contest, although they dominated territory after the break they were unable to add to their tally.
